Designing the "Wasn’t Right" EP Cover for Liv-id
One of my favorite projects to date was designing the cover art for Liv-id’s EP “Wasn’t Right.” This project challenged me to blend emotion, energy, and storytelling into a single frame—and it ended up being a visual piece that felt as raw and real as the music itself.
🎧 The Artist Vibe
Liv-id came to me with a bold, emotional concept: reflect heartbreak, inner conflict, and the moments we wrestle with identity and truth. The sound was introspective with a steady beat—part vulnerable, part unfiltered.
From the jump, I knew the design needed to be human and gritty, but still elevated enough to be album-worthy across platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
🎨Creative Direction
The visual direction we landed on was rooted in contrast:
Black and white photography to represent memory, loss, and nostalgia
Selective green tone overlays to symbolize emotion, healing, and identity
Clean, handwritten typography to feel personal and handwritten—like a journal entry or note to self
The placement of the artist in multiple positions within the scene represented duality and internal dialogue. It was more than a cover—it became a still from the story behind the track.
💻 Tools + Process
The EP cover was designed using:
Photoshop for photo editing, masking, and tone manipulation
Canva Pro for layout mockups and social media previews
Adobe Fonts + Custom Touches for the title text
I delivered the final files as high-res print and web assets—plus mockups for easy posting across streaming platforms, IG, and Apple Music.
🎶 Final Touches
Seeing the artwork live on music apps, in AirPods mockups, and as part of Liv-id’s brand made it real. It was such a creative reminder that design doesn’t just look good—it should feel like the heartbeat of the project.
